A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that provides that search. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Floyd County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.

When a visitor sends an email, the message is kept as needed to provide a response. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Floyd County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the Floyd County Sheriff, Floyd County courts, the Virginia Department of State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Division's Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. The website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or criminal files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on the website. Their own privacy policies govern any information submitted through those tools. Each provider controls its retention, processing, and disclosure practices, so visitors should review the provider's policy before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Floyd County government, Virginia courts, state agencies, legal assistance organizations, and outside search providers. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules apply rather than this policy. Personal details should be supplied only after reviewing those rules.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted advertisements. Floyd County Criminal History does not operate that tracking.

Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor is believed to have supplied information, a request may be made and the identified information will be removed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights over personal data depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the request. A person may ask to inspect information held about them, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, or object to some processing. The Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Virginia Code §2.2-3700 et seq., governs qualifying access to Virginia public-body records rather than private website data. Virginia Code §19.2-389 separately limits dissemination from the VSP Central Criminal Records Exchange. Neither law turns this website into a government record custodian.
